Established in its current form in 1978, having been in existence under various guises since the late 1960’s, Seden Clarke has built up a vast bank of experience on a wide variety of cases. The Company’s professional reputation has been built upon independence, integrity, perception, quality and speed of survey execution and quality of reporting and follow-through.
While our core activities are centred upon marine casualty and cargo damage investigations, we are increasingly involved in loss prevention exercises, including condition surveys; identifying trends, particularly with temperature controlled cargoes; the pre-planning and execution of project cargo shipments; and the preparation of standard operating procedures on behalf of principals. We have successfully intervened on behalf of principals in the handling of such diverse problems as the disposal of nuclear waste, the handling of stowaways and illegal immigrants and the investigation of road traffic incidents as such may apply to marine cargo claims. We have undertaken over 70 investigative inquiries into fishing vessel casualties on behalf of mutual insurers.
As active members of the International Institute of Marine Surveying, we actively support their initiatives to progress the professional training, certification and advancement of marine surveying as a profession. All our staff surveyors hold IIMS or equivalent marine surveying diplomas in addition to professional marine and specialist qualifications; the company works closely with Cambridge Refrigeration Technology.
